Article: My first poem | I found my Light.

My first poem | I found my Light.

My first poem | I found my Light.

Tangie.

My cousin a dear friend.

I never thought I would see the end.

I'll always keep her in my heart and soul.

A beautiful girl as gentle as gold.

While she's gone, I'll wish her the best.

Her heart and soul, still at rest.

No-one could ever take her place.

So happy, a smile upon her face.

I would give the world to have her back.

But I know she's safe where she's at.

Though this poem has come to an end.

My Love for her will always extend.

I wrote this poem three days after she passed away. I was only 14 and it will always be my favorite. I found Light in the midst of grief, which isn’t easy.

I never knew that poetry would bring me to where I am today. I’m not talking about the things I have or the success I’ve had in my life. I’m talking about the spiritual journey that I’ve been on. Learning about life, falling and getting back up. Being hurt and hurting others. The lessons have been delightfully brutal.

I reached a point a few years back where I felt like life and the world as I knew it had nothing left to offer me. Listen, I wasn’t suicidal or anything. I was just going through the motions. I had just purchased my first home, my dream home and it wasn’t enough. I wasn't happy.

Yeah, I was depressed, deeply so. I went to therapy got the help I needed and devised a plan that would be fulfilling in ways that material things just weren’t.

I asked myself, Michelle what do you Love? Obviously my answer was, Poetry. My next question was, what would make you happy? I would be happy if I could write poetry and share it while making a living.

And so Light126 was born. Light126 is my life path. It is my reason. I made my first candle three years ago. I was so excited to test burn this candle. I was at work just thinking about it. I don’t even think I worked that day. :)

I was overjoyed. I got home picked up the candle and realized that my life had come full circle. I'm holding my first candle because of my first poem. I couldn't burn it. I went upstairs and made a label for it with Tangie's birthday on it. 831, I see this number everywhere. My First Love

She's with me. I added the moon and the stars because that was our thing. Looking at the moon, stars and boys. We were up in my window trying to catch a glimpse of my much older next-door neighbor, but that's a story for another time.

Life is beautiful like that because if we are in tune with ourselves and we know our talents, we can find our way. When we suffer tragedy or disappointment there is a lesson to be learned. The more we overcome, the more we become. That is what I like to call Power, but we need Hope to make it there. We need Hope in order to fight our way through those tough times.

Hope and Power. More of my favorite Intangibles that can only be found when we search within.

If you've read this far, I'd like to say Thank you for reading. I wish you the best on your blessed journey. And I would love to know what you are creating.

Until next time. Create, Create and then Create again.

My humble beginnings.

My first candle.

I was already thinking about burning it. Smelled so good.

Love that number on the scale. The Universe speaks, we just have to listen.
